In 2010, Nectar joined the Business Networking International (BNI) Redwulf Chapter based in Kendal. As part of the membership, member companies conduct regular one-to-one meetings in order to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of each other’s business.
One such meeting was with contract cleaning company Wipe Away. Established in 2007 and based near Grange-over-Sands, Wipe Away was originally dedicated to providing a local window cleaning service.
Over recent years, the company has grown and expanded into related areas, including grounds and property maintenance, and a new laundry service for hoteliers and guest houses.
After reviewing the business and the market place, Neil took the opportunity at the one-to-one meeting with Wipe Away business partner Adrian Barker to not only explain what Nectar does, but also demonstrate it by way of a mini marketing review.
The review itself sparked further discussion about Wipe Away and the future of the business, in particular the three core elements of the business (i.e. contract cleaning, laundry service and the property and grounds maintenance) and the suitability of the current trading name.
Working together, Neil came up with a number of possible new names that would reflect the quality of service and values business as well as the geographic reach and portfolio. After much discussion, deliberation (and tea and biscuits), the decision was made to re-name and re-brand Wipe Away as ‘South Lakes Services’.
Neil then helped with the company and web domain registration, recommending that each service also had its own domain name:

This structure allows each service to operate independently as well as part of the South Lakes Services portfolio, which was also reflected in the new branding that Nectar delivered as part of this project.
Working with hand-picked local suppliers, Nectar developed a new web site, including content and management system, signage and vehicle livery, Office templates, business cards, advertising and PR, all completed in time for the re-launch of the business on 14th February 2011.
